StreetFighters Gathering Whitchurch

Today was just a beautifully Sunny Day. We had lots of boot sales to go to and can home with a full car more than once.

After our first return home we collected Rockin and headed out to Whitchurch for the Street Fighters Gathering at the Raven Cafe. As Soon as Rockin pulled in it was swamped with people asking questions and taking photos, We could not get near it until the meeting was over.

There were lots of great bikes at the meeting some which where more unusual than others. As time slipped away we headed home, where we enjoyed a lovely afternoon playing with our wonderful children.

The evening we still warm and sunny so we had a lovely Barbecue supper for a change before the Autumn brings in the cold weather.

That horrible time came around all to quickly the dreaded mot test,after checking rockin over and fueling up again aghhhhhhhhhhh well that v8 loves its juice we headed to shrewsbury along the A5 better take it steady dont want anything to go wrong how lucky i was two cars overtook me having a good look at rockin what they should have been looking at was the lay by ahead were there was a nice speed camera van click click lucky for me not for them.
Anyway pulling up at the mot station nerves starting to set in stomach rumbling is rocking going to pass, as usual all the mechanics know rockin very well and we all had a good chat and then the dreaded word came ok can you bring it in oh well no going back now the only good thing is i am the only person who can drive it no one else wants to something about scary or lethal weapon.

First job check all lights etc they were all fine next bit was the worst ok lets take it on the ramp as he was laying a piece of metal for the front wheel to go on even though he was watching were the front wheel was going i still had visions of it falling off the ramp ok left a bit right a bit straighten up oh my god hurry up and say ok all done rockin was lifted into the air and had a thorough check underneath all fine next step lowering rockin and taking it off the ramp which was a bit easier as we were now going forward one final check over and those words you are longing for are said ALL SEEMS FINE phew am i hearing things ok 3 rd time in a row its passed first time no failure wow not bad for a modified 35 year old reliant robin that does have a hard life,well new mot in hand time to head home going back i looked in my mirror to see a police car catching me up very quickly oh no stomach starts going driving gets worse that inocent look appears on your face you know what i mean you all do it as he comes along side has a quick look and speeds off into the distance great back to normal foot to the floor oh no not a good idea i am catching him up very quickly better ease off dont want those immortal words he,s crashed he,s crashed he,s crashed anyway home was getting nearer and the rain was starting to pour but hey i got a new mot on rockin and i was singing in the rain.

Welshpool Festival of Transport June 09

Recently Rockin and the team visited Welshpool Transport Festival. This is a lovely little event located close to the Grounds of Powys Castle. Rockin had lots of interest and joined the parade through the town on both days.

The crowds here where not only given a treat of seeing rockin with the nose removed but also Rockin was given its own slot in the arena . This was caught on camera and has since been posted on you tube links below.

Rockin also has some new fans on the facebook page so a BIG welcome to those. We now look forward to our next trip.

Well What an action packed weekend we have had. Saturday we headed to the Boot Sale and we bought Kellyn his first proper bike and in between the breaks in the weather he jumped on it and took to it like a Duck to water, we both watched him with pride burning away inside us. After the boot sale, We headed out to Shrewsbury to the Mid Shropshire Vintage Show, This show is one of the biggest in England, located at the West Mid Show ground in Shrewsbury. The rain was torrential so we left Kellyn and Ceienna with Nanny so they stayed dry as we walked around the Auto jumble picking up a few bits along the way.



We did not stay long before we headed back home. For the afternoon we snuggled up on the sofa and watched a couple of old films. One we watched was Flushed Away, This is a fab movie really funny so i really recommend it. Both Kellyn and Ceienna were glued to it.

Sunday morning brought us a break in the weather so we headed out to Shrewsbury to the Boot Sales once more. Again we filled the car but this time with some very mint and very rare finds. Daddy was over the moon.

The rain soon began to fall heavy again so we headed home again for a fun packed afternoon. After dinner Daddy set up a craft afternoon. We made Spiders and Bee's as well as cutting and sticking shapes. We had hours of fun together. Thank You Daddy.

Tatton Park May 2009

THe team headed to a beautifully sunny Cheshire last weekend to the Car show which was held in the Grounds of Tatton Park. 

We where there for 3 days with Rockin on show and it was really well received the team where kept busy all day with Questions and public wanting pictures and cards etc. 

It was great to see so much interest in the vehicle once again. 

May 2009 Updates

This month Rockin has been out every weekend and well received everywhere it has been, with crowds around it all day.

Rockin has appeared at Marches Festival of Transport, Ludlow Shropshire. Oswestry Truck Show which was a wash out but still a fun time, and also Caersws Transport Show, This was a really enjoyable show in glorious weather a total opposite of our time in Oswestry. Also at Caersws i was lucky enough to get the experience of driving Rockin, This i have to say is quite an experience with a few hurdles the first being getting in luckily myself and David are not on the over big side as it is quite a challenge just to get into it. Next is engaging gears as this has to be done by your elbow. Controlling Rockin on grass is an experience and there is very little grip from the tyres and slips and slides very easily. The final challenge is of course getting out, you just have to hope no one is watching you. But Thank You David for the Experience.

The Start of 2009

The season for getting out about is about to start with our first outing in just a few weeks , Another charity event. We have lots of shows book already from the year and others we are waiting to hear from. This year the Rockin Robin team have a new member Ceienna, Our new daughter now nearly 4 months. Rockin can not be found on facebook and is gathering a following of fans there. The team are looking forward to a new season and will soon be releasing an Events list for the year on the website www.v8rockinrobin.bravehost.com .
